A Baroque Drama:
From the Ballroom to the Battlefield

Experience the splendor and intensity of the Baroque era in a program that journeys from courtly elegance to the vivid soundscapes of war. Performed by the Baroque Chamber Ensembles and Baroque Dance Ensemble, this concert pairs graceful dances and expressive arias with striking instrumental works by Rameau, Moulinié, Muffat, Biber, and Purcell.

From the refined beauty of the ballroom to the fierce energy of the battlefield, A Baroque Drama captures the passion, contrast, and theatrical spirit of the 17th and 18th centuries. The program also highlights scenes from Rameau’s Hippolyte et Aricie, featuring the Bourée d’Achille and the aria “Ah! Cruelle mère.”
