This concert brings together CWRU’s Jazz Ensemble I & II and Trombone Ensemble for an evening of dynamic big band and small-group jazz, featuring a special appearance by acclaimed trombonist . The program spans a wide range of styles and traditions—from Brazilian jazz and Ellington classics to modern works and reimagined standards—showcasing the artistry, versatility, and collaborative spirit of CWRU’s jazz musicians.

About The Artist
Chris Anderson is one of today’s leading jazz trombonists and educators. A native of Shaker Heights, Ohio, he performs regularly with the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra and other regional ensembles and serves on the faculty of the Oberlin Conservatory. He is also the founder of Open Tone Music, a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to high-quality music education and performance opportunities throughout Northeast Ohio.

Venue Information
Florence Harkness Memorial Chapel (est. 1902) is known for its Tiffany stained-glass windows, soaring arches, and exquisite woodwork. The neo-Gothic structure, located on Mather Quad at ÃÛÌÒAPP (Cleveland, OH), commemorates the brief life of Florence Harkness Severance. The chapel offers a warm, intimate, and acoustically resonant space for performances and special events.
