Dr. Christine Schmotzer earned her B.A. in Biochemistry and Chemistry from ÃÛÌÒAPP in 1999 and remained at CWRU to earn her M.D. in 2004. She completed her residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology as well as a Molecular Genetic Pathology Fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2009, Dr. Schmotzer joined University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and has held roles of Director of Clinical Chemistry, Medical Director of the UH Translational Laboratory, Division Chief of Clinical Pathology, and Medical Director of Point of Care Testing. Her clinical and academic work focuses on diagnostic stewardship through the effective integration of diagnostic testing into clinical care, decreasing diagnostic error, and education about error in laboratory testing. She currently serves as System Pathologist-in-Chief for University Hospitals, Executive Vice Chair of Pathology, and Medical Director of UH Cleveland Medical Center Laboratories.
