Kristina Knight is a community-engaged scholar with more than 20 years of experience
supporting out-of-school-time (OST) programs and youth-serving professionals through
applied public health research and practice. Through her leadership with the Cuyahoga County
Youth Work Institute (CCYWI) and What Works in Schools and Surveillance (WWISS), Dr. Knight
helps providers, schools, and community partners through the use of broad training and
technical assistance strategies including the use of youth survey data to strengthen program
planning, evaluation, and equity-centered decision making.

Chyrel Oates is a trainer and facilitator with education and experience in professional,
personal and youth development. In her current role, Chyrel plans and implements
professional development offerings for youth-serving organizations emphasizing positive
youth development, resilience, social emotional development, and mental health awareness.
She is a train-the-trainer for youth program quality initiatives and a program quality assessor.
Cuyahoga County Youth Work Institute (CCYWI) provides professional development programming for
the diverse youth serving work force. We utilize a theory into practice approach that is based on research, evidence based and
evidence informed models, and best and promising practices.
