An essay by Linda Ehrlich, associate professor of Japanese, on Alumbramiento (Lifeline) appears a special feature on the new DVD of Víctor Erice´s short films: La morte rouge and Alumbramiento. Other special features on the DVD are writings by poet and essayist Pere Gimferrer (recipient of the Premio Nacional de las Letras Españolas); French film critic and editor Marcos Uzal; Ángel Quintana, professor of the History and Theory of Cinema of the Universidad de Gerona; and professor Juan Egea of the University of Wisconsin.
