Volunteers needed at Crisis Text Line

Alumna Shairi Turner-Davis, MD (MED ‘96), chief health officer at , is seeking volunteers to provide remote mental health support and crisis intervention service.

“During the holiday season, more people are in need and are reaching out to us,“ said Turner-Davis. “We are recruiting virtual volunteers to connect with folks who are lonely, depressed, have anxiety and more.“

Crisis Text Line offers services in English and Spanish 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Volunteers will complete a self-paced, 30-hour training that teaches critical communication skills such as active listening and collaborative problem-solving. Volunteers for the Spanish service complete an additional seven-hour training in Spanish. All volunteering is remote and done online using a personal computer and secure internet connection.
