Gifts to Spur Innovation
Image: Rendering by HGASince Case Western Reserve announced plans to build the Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Building in early June, alumni have already pledged more than $60 million for the project, citing its promise to enhance research capabilities at the university and reshape its campus. Itās anticipated that century bonds issued by the university will account for half of the projectās financing, with the remainder funded by philanthropic gifts. Early donors include:
- Roger E. Susi (CIT ā77), whose $25 million commitment prompted a matching gift from the university to create a total $50 million investment;
- Board of Trustees chair and alumnus Fred DiSanto (WRC ā85, MGT ā86) and his wife, Brittan, who pledged $7 million;
- The Case Alumni Association, serving engineering, math and applied sciences alumni, which committed $5 million—the biggest gift in the organizationās nearly 140-year history;
- Aarti (GRS ā88) and Asheem (CIT ā86, GRS ā88) Chandna—co-chairs on the projectās campaign cabinet—who committed $5 million;
- Larry Enterline (CIT ā74) and his life partner, Kathy Richards—vice chairs on the projectās campaign cabinet—who committed $2.5 million;
- Donors who made $1.5 million commitments: the Zubizarreta Family, including alumnus Miguel Zubizarreta (CWR ā90); the Koch family, including University Trustee Charles āBudā Koch; and
- Several donors who made $1 million commitments, including Tom Seitz (CIT ā70) and his wife, Nancy; University Trustee Frank Linsalata (CIT ā63) and his wife, Jocelyne; University Trustee Larry Sears (CIT ā69) and his wife, Sally Zlotnick Sears (FSM ā72, LYS ā74); and University Trustee Joe Mandato, DBA (MGT ā04).
