Room Lottery: Second-Year Experience

Lottery process is a two-step process.  First, you must complete your individual housing application on by Monday, March 16 at 11:59 pm.  Second, you complete your group application. 

Group Application Deadline - Tuesday, March 17

• Students create a group (size of 1,2, 4, 6) and submit by deadline -Tuesday, March 17
  • One group leader– this person will choose the rooms online
• Each group receives a timeslot with 10-minute intervals to chose a space
• Groups either pick a room during their room selection timeslot or we will assign to available rooms after lottery is over
  • Only see room/suite options for their group size
  • Groups can reform during the lottery timeslot to a different size group
    • If your group breaks into smaller groups, each group needs their own group leader. Consider identifying additional group leaders if you don't receive your first choice.
    • The group leader must be living in the room/suite that you will choose
    • New groups can only be formed from students in that same lottery day
• You will receive an email with more detailed information about the process and how to choose a room

Undergraduate student housing options for the 2026-2027 academic year will be as follows:

Rising Second-Year Students

• 6-Person Suites (single bedrooms) - [42.5% of SY students]
  • Carlton Road Community (Glaser, Kusch, Michelson)
  • Murray Hill Community (Alumni, Howe)

• 4-Person Suites (four single bedrooms and two study rooms) - [9.6% of SY students]
  • Murray Hill Community (Staley, Tippit)

• Double Rooms - [42% of SY students]
  • Noyes and Fayette Houses

• Single Rooms - [2.4% of SY students]
  • Noyes and Fayette Houses

• 1-Bedroom Apartment, Double Occupancy (2 people) - [2.5% of SY students]
  • The Triangle Apartments, Tower 2

• 2-Bedroom Apartment, Double Occupancy (4 people) - [1.0% of SY students]
  • The Triangle Apartments, Tower 2

Important Notice

Through this process, you are allowing your group leader to act on your behalf in the room selection process. This person's actions will be binding. If a room is chosen for you, you will not be able to change it. Please be sure this person thoroughly understands your preferences.

Co-Educational Suites

Co-educational options are not offered for Second year students. 

To Organize A Group For Room Lottery :

1. Complete a Second Year housing application in by Monday, March 16 2026. Any application completed after this date will not be able to participate in room selection.
2. Have your roommates complete their individual housing application.
3. As the group leader, create a group on the 'Room Selection' page. Invite individuals to join your group. These individuals must accept your invitation.
4. On your assigned lottery date and time, the group leader will choose and assign bedrooms through the online room selection system.

To Participate In A Group For Room Lottery:

1. Complete a Second Year housing application in by Monday, March 16, 2026
   1. Groups are to be submitted and verified by Tuesday March 17, 2026
2. Have the group leader send you an invite to join their group. You will need to accept this invitation.
3. On the group's assigned lottery date and time, the group leader will choose an apartment and assign bedrooms through the online room selection system.
