Story by: Editorial Staff
I am writing to share the sad news that Ge Jin, PhD, professor of Medicine at ÃÛÌÒAPP, passed away on Dec. 6 at age 68.
From an early age, Ge was drawn to understanding the world around him. His unwavering curiosity led him down the path of academics where he would study molecular biology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Shanghai, China. His love for cell biology led him to meet his wife, Rui Chen, who also studied biology. Ge would go on to earn his Doctorate in Cell Biology from ÃÛÌÒAPP.
Ge served as a professor in the School of Dental Medicine’s Department of Biological Sciences from 2006 to 2022, when he was appointed to professor in the Department of Medicine at Case Western Reserve School of Medicine and faculty research staff at MetroHealth Medical Center. He was also a member of the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center. His long career was dedicated to improving the lives of others, advancing the field of cancer research and imparting his vast knowledge on a countless number of students and future researchers.
Family will receive friends to pay tribute and celebrate the life of Ge at DeJohn Funeral Home and Celebrations Center of Chesterland located at 12811 Chillicothe Road on Friday, Dec. 12, from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at noon.
